Welcome to Miami!
Did I mention?
I’ve been to *cough* MIAMI!
That’s right, I was flown to The Magic City to bring leadership training to a fully remote team.
Their team members aren’t just scattered across America, they have people in Australia, Delhi – in every corner of the globe.
Now, the remoteness is amazing for them because it means they have the best possible people working in those roles.
Location? Not an issue.
In the same breath, they have the challenge of working in different timezones and it became clear that they were unintentionally working in silos.
#TeamBuildingIsDifficult
Yet last week, this company flew every single team member to Miami to meet in-person for the VERY FIRST TIME!
(Did I mention that I, too, was flown over? To Miami. I went to Miami.)
*tehehehe*
The night before the training began, we had rooftop drinks with views across Vice City (as you do) and one of the founders turned to me, deadly serious, and said…
“You ready?”
“Born ready.”
“Good because this really has to be transformative for our investment.”
“Yup, I know.”
3 days of training come and go.
Before I bob off to the airport I ask, “Did you get what you wanted?”
This is what he said…
…HO-LY SH*T!
(That means, yes we did, apparently!)
Feedback from the team was that it was both ‘lighter and deeper’ than anything they had ever done before.
**JAW DROP**
In only 3 days they:
>>Explored their influencers.
>>Understood each other’s traits.
>>Understood each other’s vulnerabilities.
>>Understood what drives each other’s behaviours.
They were able to change their responses so that when they disagree, they no longer turn into FABers (Folded Arm Brigade)…
…or respond with a dismissive eye-roll…
Now, they lean in to understand.
They built trust.
Here’s what one team member had to say about it…
“This course was truly sensational. I feel more connected with my team members than ever before. I believe that now, understanding how to work with conflict and other behaviors, we can be more in alignment on next steps with projects and our professional work.”
Phrases like ‘life changing’ may have been thrown around.
*blushes*
And now I’m back on home ground.
That was the end for me, but it’s just the beginning for them. I’m chuffed that I get to witness their journey – which has had an epic kickstart – and I’m already excited for our follow up!
If you’d like to experience this for your leaders, feel free to book a call here.
(You don’t have to fly me to Miami to work with me, unless you want to!)
Keep rocking!
